Last Night I...

Opened a bottle of red wine that I've had for a few months and tried to enjoy a glass. Long story short, plugging your nose, drinking it quickly or adding a splash of grape juice still doesn't make red wine enjoyable! I poured the entire bottle down the drain. I'll stick to my white wine.

Had the house to myself for the first time in a really long time. I lit yummy smelling candles in every room, turned off all of the lights and watch really girly stuff on TV. It was amazing!

Walked from room to room, staring at every detail... I fell in love with my home for the 10th time in the past week. I love when that happens :)

Is Anyone Out There?

I really love to blog but sometimes I wonder, who reads this stuff anyway? I've only given my URL out to my closest girl friends and family members. I know I have a few loyal readers but sometimes I can't help but feel like this whole blog thing is pointless. It seems like all of my thoughts are just released into this empty space, left to drift off into the dark distance. Most posts I feel like I am just writing to myself. To me, blogging is almost like having an imaginary friend and that imaginary friend is me in some alternate universe.

Even though I feel this way, for some odd reason I can't stop blogging.

Wedding Update

I found our wedding photographers! I've been getting to know them a bit via email for a few weeks now, I'll finally be sending our contract and deposit to them tomorrow! They are a young (and fabulous) husband and wife team, I couldn't be happier with who we chose!

We'll be booking our honeymoon cruise any MINUTE, I'm waiting for a call from our travel agent. SoOoOo EXCITING!

Today we're meeting with the DJ :)

I'm picking up our engagement photo CD tomorrow, I can't wait to frame all of those gorgeous pictures!

We'll be meeting with a florist sometime next week, hopefully he's in our price range! Once we pick our florist we will have ALL of our vendors!

What's next? Engagement party, invitations, favors, linens, reception decor, cake, bridal party attire... plus a billion more things. Hey, you only get married once, so I'm going with the flow and making sure I enjoy every aspect of this :) It's been fun so far, very busy but fun!

The Dress

As you all know, my best friend just got married a couple months ago and I went with her to her last fitting at Prevue. As I was standing there surrounded by a ton of gowns, one particular dress caught my eye. Standing by the big mirrors, under the bright lights was a manikin with the most beautiful dress. The entire time I was there, I couldn't keep my eyes off of it! Keep in mind, I wasn't engaged yet! I told myself, "Whenever I get married, that is MY dress". But I wasn't there for me, I was there for Serena, so I kept my mouth shut and didn't mention anything about the dress to anyone. As we were finishing up, getting ready to leave Serena pointed to the exact same dress I had been drooling over for an hour and said, "I've always pictured you getting married in a dress like that". Damn she's good! So I quickly admitted that I had been looking at it the whole time we were there!

Not even a week after I got engaged Serena and I went back to Prevue and I tried it on. When I stepped up to the big mirrors and saw myself, my heart started pounding so hard I thought everyone in the room could hear it! My stomach had the worst case of butterflies and I totally had the "this is THE dress" feeling. I had no desire to try on any more dresses EVER, I knew I had found the right one. However, I did try on two more dresses just to say that I did, but they didn't even come close! One week later I came back to try the dress on for my dad, my friend Danney and Serena's mom Virgi... all those warm fuzzy feelings came right back and I knew they could see it on my face. They all loved it and agreed that it was THE one! We put the order in that same day. Man, I can't wait for Isaac to see me wearing it!!! Here's a sneak peek...
It's hard to see the gorgeous details in pictures, I can't wait for you all to see it in person!

The Ring

So here's the story... 4 years ago on Valentines Day we went to Robins Brothers to look at rings so we could get an idea of what we liked. We stepped up to a case with about 50 rings in it and I was completely overwhelmed, I had no clue where to start or which to try on. So Isaac pointed out one ring and said to the sales woman, "What about that one right there". She pulled the ring he pointed to, I tried it on and completely fell in love with it! It was the most gorgeous ring I had ever seen! But it was the VERY FIRST ring I tried on so I thought it surely couldn't be the one we liked most. I went on to try on at least 20 more rings, but nothing compared to that first ring that Isaac had picked out. Well, 4 years passed without me seeing that beautiful ring of my dreams... and on 3.29.10 Isaac put it on my finger.

It was the first ring that I ever tried on and the last I will ever wear.

I'M ENGAGED!

After 13 years of friendship and 5 1/2 years of a fabulous relationship, Isaac asked me to be his wife :) and here's how it happened...

It was March 29th, a typical Monday workday, I got home from work around 5:30pm. When I walked through the door Isaac was sitting in the living room waiting for me. I gave him a kiss and hug and he told me to put my sandals on and to come out to the back yard with him. That wasn't completely out of the ordinary because when we get home from work we usually go out to the yard and water the plants or just hang out, but not usually the very second I walk in the door. Even though I was still in my work clothes, I kicked off my heels, put on my flip flops and followed him outside. Right away Isaac started walking into the lawn and I was thinking- what's he doing? But then I noticed a blanket laying in the grass way out in the middle of the lawn, so I started walking towards it as Isaac motioned for me to follow him. We got to the blanket and I saw that he had made sandwiches for us. I thought it was a little unusual because that was normally the time I'd start making dinner but he told me that he didn't have lunch that day and he was really hungry so he couldn't wait til dinner, so that curbed my suspicions of anything weird going on. It was a PERFECT day, the warm sun was out with big fluffy clouds in the sky, we were lounging on a cozy blanket under our favorite tree and the birds were singing so loudly! As we ate our sandwiches we talked about work, the weather, how we need a lawn mower, lots of random stuff! Then we laid down and just enjoyed each other, we cuddled, kissed and then... as were laying on our tummies looking at each other, he started to say the sweetest things. In the middle of telling me how much he loved me and bunch of other sweet things that were melting my heart, he reached his arm under the blanket and pulled out a little box! With that adorable smile on his face, he opened the box and said, "Will you marry me"! I was completely silent (I know that's hard to believe) my heart was pounding out of my chest and I thought my cheeks were going to explode from smiling so hard! After a few seconds of me smiling and saying NOTHING, Isaac was still holding the box with the most beautiful sparkling ring I'd ever seen. He said, "Do you like it?" I broke my silence and said, YES! I'm not sure if I was saying yes I'd marry him or yes I liked the ring... I think it was yes to both questions! He put the ring on my finger and we both stared at if for a bit. There were no tears, just happy smiles and a million I-love-you's, until.... I wrapped my arms around him and kissed him all over his face and we laid there holding each other so tightly. As I had him in my arms I

(sorry I have to take a break because I'm friggin crying just thinking about it!)

As I had him in my arms, I had my eyes closed and I started remembering all of the things that made me fall in love with him... when we were little kids and he smiled that sweet smile at me, how we held hands when nobody was looking. As we got older and I hadn't seen him in a while how I'd get butterflies when he'd walk in the room. The first time he kissed me, he lightly put his hand under my chin and tilted my face up towards his, it was the best kiss I've EVER had, my whole body went numb. I couldn't believe the man that I've loved for so long had just asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. Tears started to stream down my face, Isaac looked at me and his eyes filled up as he hugged me even tighter.

I will never forget that moment. I am the luckiest girl in the world!

Thankful

I'm sitting here this morning reflecting on all of the blessings in my life.

1. God and his wonderful plan for me. A am exactly where I'm supposed to be.

2. My sweet Love, the most amazing person I've ever known. How he looks at me with "that look" and I know it means "I love you so much".

3. My family and friends and all they've taught me about life.

4. The two fur balls that greet me every time I walk in the door and keep me warm every night.

5. The trees in my backyard that let me escape into my daydreams.

6. My home, the creeks in the wooden floor and ticking of the old heater that make me feel so content with my life.
