The name game

When it comes to choosing a name for your child, most people have told me that it's usually a long process. But when it came to choosing our baby girl's name it was SO simple. There really was not much discussion about it, her name was pretty much picked out for her since before she was even in my belly!

A few years ago, I was browsing around online and I came across this "name generator". How it worked was, you enter two first names and the program mixes the two names you provide, generating names made from only those letters. So, of course, I entered Isaac & Jenny. After a few seconds, a list with about 20 names popped up, it looked a little like this:

Jasy
Nics
Jacie
Inny
Jennsa
Sencia
Nasia
Seniya
Isy
Cansey
Jaac
Sainy
Jianny
Isanne

Some of the names were ok, some unique and others were just totally weird! But there was ONE name that stood out to me and immediately, I knew... one day, that would be my future daughter's name! I've pretty much announced to the world what we're naming her, so most people already know, but if you don't, her name will be:

Sienna

Since I had lucked out with the generator on my first try, I decided to try one more time. This time I entered both of our middle names and sure enough, there was ONE name that was absolutely perfect... and that is how Sienna's middle name came about:

Noelle

I told Isaac about the name generator and the name it came up with and how it was so perfect for our "future daughter". To my surprise, he actually liked the name, but he didn't give it much thought since we weren't trying to get pregnant at the time. Well, fast forward a couple years, we get married, go on our honeymoon, then we start trying to conceive. When we first started trying I was so excited, right away I started looking at boy and girl names. But then I remembered, Sienna Noelle. I start researching the meaning, origin, all that good stuff.

Try to stick with me here....

Come to find out, Sienna is an Italian name. We visited Italy on our honeymoon (it is also where we decided we wanted to start "trying" ;) if you catch my drift). Then I looked up Noelle, which is a french name and it means Christmas. I thought that was the coolest thing because France was the other country we visited on our honeymoon. Coincidence, I think not! However, at the time, I wasn't too crazy about the meaning. Anyway, fast forward a few months, we found out we were pregnant! Yippee! Just take a guess when we found out the wonderful news... at Christmas!!! Want to know how I told the Hub he was gonna be a Daddy? I saved the best Christmas gift for last...
So here's the break down:

Letters from our first names, make Sienna

Letters from our middle names, make Noelle

Sienna Noelle = Italian and French origin
France & Italy = the two countries we visited on our honeymoon

The meaning of Noelle is "Christmas".
Christmas is when I found out I was pregnant and in a Christmas gift is how I told the Hubby he was gonna be a Papa.

How friggin perfect is that!? I feel like we have no other choice, we have to name her Sienna Noelle! Plus, ain't it the cutest little name you've ever heard ;) I know, all parents think their kids names are the best ever, so if you don't like it, that's totally fine... just pretend you do :) just kidding!

If you have read this far, you've just read the longest, most detailed story of how someone chose their childs name. Sorry bout that folks, but I'm a first time mother who is crazily obsessed with every detail that relates to my kiddo. I can't help it!
